Board Member Awards Program The Board Member Awards Program, with basic certification as its cornerstone, was developed in 1990 with input from both veteran Michigan school board members and representatives from higher education and state administrator organizations. Its goal - to enhance the ability of school boards to improve Michigan public schools and the achievement of 1.7 million Michigan students. LEVEL 3 – Award of Distinction Completed levels 1 & 2 Total of four 200-level CBA classes Minimum of 208 education credits .

Honor Board Award
The Honor Board Award is given to boards when all board members achieve certification status. Renewals are made annually if all board members continue to have certification status. Standard of Excellence Award MASB offers the Standard of Excellence Award to boards when all board members have received the Award of Merit.

Livonia Public Schools’ Whitman Center Comprehensive Career Development Program is designed to meet the individual needs of adults aged 16 and over. Program participants are involved in a three-step process: assessment, information diffusion, and placement. A career team–teachers, counselors, academic-job placement specialists, and paraprofessionals–delivers the program. Expected outcomes are: that students will assess their own interests, become cognizant about careers, learn a decision-making process, develop a career plan, and develop employability and job-seeking skills.

The workbook contained in this document provides a blueprint for replicating this career education program. Its seven chapters provide step-by-step information on (1) goals and objectives; (2) planning (physical layout, staffing, budget); (3) coordination (linkages and support); (4) the counseling/assessment module; (5) the information module; (6) the placement module; and (7) evaluation. Appendixes contain copies of some pertinent articles, a list of resources available in the Whitman Center, and examples of materials used at the Whitman Center. (KC)
