Lancaster Christian School
Lancaster Christian School (LCS) is a private, interdenominational school in West Lampeter Township, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1954 by a group of parents who desired for their children to a have a Christian education.
Lancaster Christian School’s faith-based curriculum includes the inerrancy of the Bible, the triune nature of God, creationism, the divinity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ, a sola fide soteriology, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Athletics
The athletic teams of Lancaster Christian School are alliteratively nicknamed as the “Lancers.” The official colors are blue and white, with the uniforms rendered in various shades of blue with minor silver or black accents.
The Lancers compete in the Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association. Lancaster Christian School offers basketball, field hockey, and soccer for middle school girls; baseball, basketball, and soccer for middle school boys; basketball, field hockey, soccer, and golf for high school girls; and baseball, basketball, soccer, and golf for high school boys. Additionally, the school has an agreement with J. P. McCaskey High School that allows Lancaster Christian students to compete in its wrestling, cross country, track and field, and tennis teams.
Student Life Center
Lancaster Christian School hired Cornerstone Design Architects to build the multi-purpose Student Life Center in 2002. The structure was constructed between March and December 2004. With 19,095 square feet (1,774.0 m2), its design includes a hardwood maple floor, two basketball/volleyball courts, a stage, retractable bleachers for 300 spectators, and light/audio equipment for theater performances. The total cost of the project was in excess of $7 million.
In June 2009, a professional basketball team called the Lancaster Liberty announced its choice of the Student Life Center as its home venue. The team is a charter member of the Global Professional Basketball League, which will play its inaugural season in 2010.
